Marcus Center for Advanced Rehabilitation – Shepherd Center

The Marcus Center for Advanced Rehabilitation (MCAR) is a new state-of-the-art facility on Shepherd Center’s main campus in Atlanta, Georgia. Purpose-built to advance patient recovery, the MCAR enhances Shepherd’s ability to deliver extraordinary care to more individuals while serving as a hub for applying innovative research and technology in real-world rehabilitation settings.

Our Scope Included

  • 10,981 SF of standard sidewalks and 10,653 SF of color-exposed sidewalks
  • 2,800 SF of artificial turf surface for therapy and recreation
  • Bluestone, concrete, and cobble pavers
  • 643 LF of mostly radius concrete walls
  • Thermory wood decking and IPE wood bench tops
  • Trellis slats for shade and architectural appeal
  • A bubbler fountain for an inviting outdoor environment
  • An obstacle course designed specifically for patient rehabilitation

Delivering Greater Impact

This project provided Shepherd Center with a highly functional and beautifully finished outdoor rehabilitation environment. By blending durability, accessibility, and thoughtful design, the space encourages patient engagement, supports innovative rehab programs, and provides a welcoming area for patients, families, and caregivers.
