Assistant Project Manager

Responsible for planning, directing, budgeting, and coordinating activities related to the management and coordination of assigned projects in a specific group. Communicate the company’s vision and goals to all employees.

Pre-Construction / Assigned Project Start Up

  • Review construction documents, schedule, and scope of work with the estimator.  There will be a “turnover” meeting with assigned Project Manager and Preconstruction for an informal review of the project.
  • Ensure all required copies of the construction documents are printed and set up for field use.
  • Assist and review the project estimate converting into the managed budget.
  • Generate, submit and track RFI’s as needed from review, Superintendent, and Field Engineer, with Project Manager.
  • Solicit price quotes for necessary material and equipment with Project Manager.
  • Review project specifications and identify submittal requirements.
  • Generate, submit, and track the required submittals.
  • Ensure that all required information is given to scheduled labor force for their project review (scope of work, pages with take-off, and pricing).
  • Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems within pre-existing procedures and ensure that the system is applicable to the specific project being managed, and all participants are aware of their roles within the system and procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.

Construction Execution

  • Perform jobsite visits as needed to support and assist our field teams with Project progression.
  • Review job cost status reports with Project Managers and Superintendents weekly.
  • Communicate changes and revisions to Superintendents and ensure that the most current construction documents are being utilized in the field.
  • Monitor and track pending change order requests with Project Manager.
  • Review Daily Timesheets from Superintendents and check for any errors in reporting.  Communicate these errors with the team.
  • In conjunction with the Superintendent, identify and coordinate project material and equipment requirements and the sequencing of the material/equipment procurement.
  • Assist with review and approval/revision of all project specific invoices weekly.
  • Review and maintain with Project Manager and Superintendent all accurate field production quantities in Management Software.
  • Ensure that all quality, safety, and production goals are adhered to and met.
  • Review and coordinate all construction documents with field use shop drawings per active projects as needed.
  • Review and distribute all shop drawings, addendums, RFP’s and/or other changes/revisions to Project Team as needed.  Notify team of any noted errors, omissions, or scope impacting changes.
  • Follow up in writing with all clients/contractors’ conversations and/or agreements as needed.
  • Keep Senior Management informed and aware of progress of projects and indicate various solutions to any potential issues and manage the cost savings or impact of this alongside Project Management staff.
  • Financial Reporting – Work alongside Project Management in preparing and finalizing all monthly financial reporting on assigned projects for monthly review with Senior Management and Owners.

 Additional Responsibilities

  • Understand all company processes, cost control and tracking systems as well as company policies as they pertain to the project management role.
  • Improve existing and develop new client relationships through social interaction and networking.
